The Lady Rattlers are still looking for their first win of the season after a 0-8 start. This loss to Jacksonville University marks the 12th consecutive loss for the Lady Rattlers dating back to last season.

The Rattlers started off with a red hot first quarter, shooting 75 percent from beyond the arc. This momentum is what contributed to the Lady Rattlers' 9-point lead at the half.

“The third quarter has been our Achilles heel all year,” said FAMU Head Coach Bridgette Gordon. “It seems like we always let them come back in the game.

Coach Gordon says that the team just has to learn how to play together.

“The chemistry is coming," said Coach Gordon. “It's taking a little longer than we expected but if you know basketball you can see spurts of it throughout games.”

The Rattlers were led in scoring by Miya Giles-Jones with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Giles Jones mentioned that this season the Lady Rattlers have been battling lots of injuries this season.

“I feel like we haven’t had the whole team at once all season, it's always someone hurt,” said Giles-Jones.

The Lady Rattlers were without starting center Breazia Robinson, who was recently diagnosed with a concussion.

FAMU captain and point guard Tahnyjia Purifoy finished the game with 15 points and a game high of 4 assists.

“I love all my teammates,” said Purifoy. “I trust the other 4 players on the court with me to do their job.”

The Rattlers struggled to get to the line shooting only 5 free throws through the first three quarters. Throughout the whole game FAMU shot a total of 13 free throws while JU shot 36 free throws.

When asked about the free throw attempt difference Coach Gordon said she wouldn’t like to talk about foul calls or officiating because she didn’t want to get fined, but she did say her team has got to learn to play through it.

The Rattlers travel to Gainesville, FL to face the Florida Gators on Dec. 17th.
